Fuel retrieval from spent fuel pools, etc.
Retrieval of fuels in the spent fuel pool of unit 4 has been completed. Preparations for the fuel retrieval in the spent fuel pools of unit 3 and others are currently in progress.
Although it is supposed that salt stemmed from seawater has adhered to the spent fuel in the pools and some fuels are likely to be physically damaged due to the fallen concrete rubbles, it is proven by monitoring water quality that leakage of radioactive materials has not occurred.
Fuel assemblies retrieved from the spent fuel pools are planned to be stored in common pools and dry cask storage facilities safely for a long time. R&D on the evaluation of long-term integrity for it was developed.
